Buda Royal Castle

It is the historical castle complex of Hungarian kings, first completed in 1265. The Buda Palace was built on the southern part of Castle Hill, surrounded by what is known as the Castle District, famous for its Medieval, Baroque and 19th century living quarters and buildings. The area is linked to Adam Clark Square and the Széchenyi Chain Bridge by the Castle Hill Funicular. The Castle area is definitely the most renowned tourist attraction of Budapest.

There are several popular venues and attractions within this “old town”: among others Fisherman’s Bastion, Matthias Church, the Museum of Hungarian History, National Gallery, Széchenyi Library.
